HABITUAL SNATCHER / ROBBER / AUTO-LIFTER ARRESTED BY AATS EAST

•    AATS/East team apprehended a notorious criminal involved in multiple cases of snatching and auto-lifting.
•    One stolen scooty recovered, linked to an e-FIR at PS Laxmi Nagar, Delhi.
•    Two cases of vehicle theft successfully worked out.

INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION: -
In line with the “Zero Tolerance Policy” against street crimes such as mobile snatching and vehicle thefts, the AATS/East District has been conducting sustained operations to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety. A dedicated team, under the supervision of senior officers, has been closely analyzing CCTV footage of theft incidents reported across the district and preserving evidence for legal proceedings.
During one such surveillance operation, the team identified a suspect from CCTV footage near Partap Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Delhi. The footage captured the theft of a Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle bearing registration number UP78DJ****, which had been reported stolen vide E-FIR No. 015144 dated 31.05.2025 at PS Pandav Nagar. Continuing their monitoring, the same AATS team spotted the suspect; later identified as Tushar @ Gattu, Ro Trilokpuri, Delhi, again on 17.07.2025 near Khichdipur, Kalyanpuri. This time, he was riding a white Honda Activa scooty without a number plate. The team swiftly laid a trap and apprehended him. Upon verification, the scooty was found to be reported stolen under e-FIR No. 033128/2024 dated 25.10.2024 U/s 305(B) BNS at PS Laxmi Nagar. Legal action was initiated at PS New Ashok Nagar vide DD No. 114-A. As a result, two cases have been solved. Concerned police stations have been duly informed. Further investigation of the case is in progress.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSON: -
    Tushar @ Gattu R/o Trilokpuri, Delhi, Age 20 years. 
He studied up to 9th standard. 
He currently works as a daily wage labourer and also a known drug addict. He has been involved in 6 previous criminal cases.

MOTIVE OF THE ACCUSED: -
During interrogation, Tushar @ Gattu revealed that due to financial constraints and his drug addiction, he resorted to stealing vehicles to earn quick money. He would typically target unattended two-wheelers parked in low-surveillance areas, sell them off in the grey market, or use them to commit further crimes. Despite multiple prior involvements in criminal cases, he showed no sign of reformation and continued his illegal activities with increased confidence.

    One stolen Honda Activa Scooty (Regn. No. DL4SCM****) – linked to e-FIR No. 033128/2024, PS Laxmi Nagar

APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC: -
The general public is hereby urged to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity or individuals found loitering near parked vehicles or in low-traffic areas. Citizens are also advised to take basic preventive measures such as:
•    Always park vehicles in well-lit and secure areas.
•    Install anti-theft devices or wheel locks in two-wheelers.
•    Avoid leaving valuables inside parked vehicles.
•    Use CCTV surveillance where possible and cooperate with local police during investigations.
