In compliance of directions issued by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi vide order No. F.No.10(15)/ENV/2020/Vol-1/6276-91 dated 19.12.2024 and observations made by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India vide its order dated 06.05.2025 passed in the matter of M.C. MEHTA VERSUS UNION OF INDIA & ORS., Delhi Police has approached/written to Social Media Platforms & e-Commerce Platforms for immediate Cessation of Online Sale of Firecrackers in NCT of Delhi.
To address the critical issue of air pollution and to safeguard public health, the Government of NCT of Delhi vide order dated 19.12.2024 has imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, storage, bursting and selling (including delivery through online marketing platforms) of all categories of firecrackers in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi during subsequent years. 
As a crucial step in protecting the health and well-being of citizens getting directly affected due to increasing pollution and to prevent sale of firecrackers through e-commerce platforms, providing delivery options to addresses within NCT of Delhi, e-Commerce Websites/Social Media Platforms have been directed in writing through an e-mail as under:-
1.     Not to list firecrackers and to disable the service for customers in NCT of Delhi.
2.     To activate location-based restrictions to prevent any sales and/or deliveries of firecrackers within the NCT of Delhi.
3.     To publish a clear notice informing customers about the prohibition of firecracker sales and deliveries in compliance with the lawful directions.
4.     To sensitize their delivery channel partners that no consignments containing firecrackers are accepted, transported, or delivered within the NCT of Delhi, during the ban period.
e-Commerce Platforms/Social Media Platforms have been asked for a written confirmation for compliance of directions.
Besides, all owners, operators, managers, administrators of banquet/marriage/ceremonial halls and facilities, whether standalone, or located within hotels, guesthouses etc. are also hereby informed to strictly adhere to the complete ban of manufacturing/storage/selling and bursting of all kinds of firecrackers in NCT of  Delhi with immediate effect.  Violations of these directions will invoke criminal prosecution under the relevant laws, in view of the total and unconditional ban on the bursting of firecrackers, as ordered by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India as well as Govt. of NCT of Delhi. The local police has also been asked to serve these advisories to all such owners/facilities etc.
For any complaint/grievance in connection with violation of the firecrackers ban, the matter can be reported through Delhi Police Control Room No. 112.
This is for wide publicity and knowledge of all e-Commerce Websites/Social Media Platforms as well as owners/operators/managers, administrators of banquet/marriage/ceremonial halls and facilities etc. and all concerned.
