KEY BREAKTHROUGH IN ARMED ROBBERY CASE OF PS BARAKHAMBA ROAD, DELHI

A team of NR-II, Crime Branch, under the vigilant supervision of ACP Narender Beniwal and effective leadership of Inspector Sandeep Swami, achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending a notorious Gang member of Narender @ Chotu Gang namely Rajiv Singh @ Rahul r/o Chandan Nagar, Sec-15, Part-2, Gurugram, Haryana (Age: 37 years) for his involvement in an Armed Robbery Case of PS Barakhamba Road, New Delhi who had been absconding for over 23 months. He was declared PO by the Hon’ble Court, Ld. ASJ, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi vide orders dated 12.09.2023.
BRIEF OF CASE
On 16.06.2023, three armed assailants had attempted to rob a Money Exchanger at gunpoint. The incident was registered vide case FIR No. 81/2023 dated 16.06.2023 u/s 393/394/397/34 IPC & 25/27 Arms Act PS Barakhamba Road and investigation was taken up by the local police. It came to light that the robbery was attempted by gang members of Narender @ Chotu Gang wherein Narender @Chotu along-with his two other associates including the present arrested accused person committed the offence.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION
The teams of NR-II, Crime Branch, Sector 18, Rohini have been working on the not-worked out and partially worked out heinous cases of Delhi and NCR. A team comprising of SI Pankaj Saroha, SI Pradeep Dahiya, ASI Sunil, HC Naval and HC Sumit led by Inspr. Sandeep Swami under the supervision of ACP Narender Beniwal was constituted by DCP Sh. Harsh Indora to work upon the present case.
Meanwhile, SI Pankaj Saroha and ASI Sunil Kumar received a secret information that one Rajiv Singh @ Rahul who is involved in the crime can be apprehended by developing intelligence. Raids were conducted at all possible hideouts of the accused. Activities of all the friends and relatives of the accused were monitored covertly. On the basis of technical surveillance and local intelligence gathered by SI Pankaj Saroha, it was established that the accused Rajiv Singh @ Rahul would come near Nirmal City, Shiv Mandir, Chauhanpura, Greater Noida to meet someone. The team laid a trap near Nirmal City, Shiv Mandir, Chauhanpura and nabbed the accused Rajiv Singh @ Rahul. He confessed about his involvement in the aforesaid case of armed robbery and thus was arrested vide Kalandra u/s 41.1 (c) CrPC.

INTERROGATION
Accused Rajiv Singh @ Rahul disclosed that he used to work in housekeeping department in a Gurugram based company, wherein he came in contact with one Rohit Thakur @ Rohit Tomer. Through Rohit Thakur @ Rohit Tomer, he was introduced to Narender @ Chotu who asked him to join hands and commit a robbery in Agra. Due to shortage of finances he agreed to the lucrative deal proposed by Narender @ Chotu and committed the armed robbery of 250 Kgs of Silver. He got arrested and remained behind the bars for approx. 14 months and remained involved in the illegal activities of Narender @ Chotu Gang thereby committing the present sensational armed robbery incident.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSON
Accused Rajiv Singh @ Rahul is uneducated. He came to Delhi at the age of 10 years in search of work and started working as waiter in New Delhi area. He started working in an NGO based in Gurugram and shifted to Gurugram. He later got introduced to Narender @ Chotu through one Rohit Thakur @ Rohit Tomer and joined the gang. Being an active member of Narender @ Chotu Gang, he started committing robbery with them, and in furtherance of the same he got involved in the present case.
