     A dedicated team of PS Cyber, South-West District has achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a notorious cyber stalker and recovering a smartphone used in the commission of the offence.

*INCIDENT, TEAM & ARREST:*
   On 16.06.2025, a complaint was received from a college-going girl ‘R’ regarding persistent online harassment, threats, and blackmail with the intention to defame her on social media. The complainant reported that the accused was creating new fake Instagram accounts daily, using her photos along with derogatory and defamatory captions posted through stories. Based on her complaint, a case under Section 78/79 of the BNS was registered at PS Cyber/SW, and investigation was promptly initiated.

    In view of the seriousness of the matter, a dedicated team led by SI Priyanka was formed to identify and apprehend the accused. It was revealed during investigation that the accused was impersonating a female using a profile picture taken from the victim’s public Instagram account. The accused further used AI tools to convert the images into sexually explicit content and uploaded these edited pictures through fake Instagram stories. He also sent follow requests to the complainant and her Instagram followers to further harass and humiliate her.

  Despite the fake accounts being created without linking to any verifiable mobile number or Gmail ID, the team carried out an in-depth technical analysis. The suspect was traced to the Palam area of South-West Delhi. Multiple raids were conducted at potential hideouts in Palam Village. After continuous surveillance and persistent effort, the accused identified as X (Age 21 years), resident of Palam Village, South-West Delhi  was apprehended.

  During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. One smartphone used in the commission of the offence was recovered from his possession.
