✳️ *TWO DESPERATE THAK-THAK GANG MEMBERS ARRESTED BY THE TEAM OF AATS/SWD*

✳️ *ONE STOLEN MOBILE PHONE, ONE ILLEGAL FIREARM WITH TWO LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED FROM THEIR POSSESSION*

✳️ *ACCUSED ARE INVOLVED IN MORE THAN 30 CASES OF THAK-THAK TECHNIQUE THEFT CASES*

      The team of AATS, South West District had arrested two desperate thak-thak gang members namely *Shoaib Qureshi* R/o Khair Nagar, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Age 30 years & *Umardaraj* R/o Kesharganj Makbara Diggi Altaf Chowk, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Age 45 years. With their arrest, one stolen mobile phone & one illegal firearm with two live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

*INFORMATION, TEAM AND ARREST:* 
       To curb the recent incidents of Thuk-Thuk theft cases in South West District, the team of AATS/South West District was directed to keep vigil over the notorious criminals/members of Thuk-Thuk Gangs active in the area. Accordingly, a dedicated team comprising of SI Ved Prakash, ASI Dharmender, ASI Praveen Kumar, ASI Jaipal, HC Hariom, HC Ravinder, HC Devender and HC Manoj Moral was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Ram Kumar, I/C AATS/SWD and under the close supervision of Sh. Vijay Kumar, ACP/Operations/South West District. The team started collecting local intelligence about the notorious criminals/members of Thuk-Thuk Gang active in the area and to do patrolling in the area of South West District, where the thuk-thuk theft cases are being reported.

       On 14.06.2025, during patrolling, team received secret information that one desperate thuk-thuk gang member having illegal firearms will come near Delhi Cantt Metro Station. Acting swiftly, the team reached near Metro Pillor No. 36, Ring Road from Naraina towards Dhaula Kuan and noticed one suspect roaming alone. After seeing the police party, the suspect started running away here and there. After a brief chase, the suspect was overpowered who disclosed his name as Shoaib Qureshi R/o Gali Qureshiyan, Khair Nagar, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Age 30 years. On his personal search, one country made firearm and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession. The recovered firearm was found loaded. One stolen mobile phone was also recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 155/25 u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Delhi Cantt, Delhi and the accused Shoaib Qureshi was arrested. The recovered illegal firearms and live cartridges were taken into police possession through seizure memo. The recovered stolen mobile phone was stolen by the accused by doing Thuk-Thuk from a car near Delhi Cantt Metro area.

       On sustained interrogation, the accused Shoaib Qureshi disclosed that he bought the recovered firearm and live cartridges from his associate Umardaraj R/o Meerut. Accused Shoaib Qureshi further told that he along with his associates used to steal the valuable items from the cars by doing Thuk-Thuk technique in Delhi NCR area. Accused Shiab Qureshi mentioned above has revealed that he and his associates have done more than 30 cases of Thuk-Thuk theft. On 15.06.2025, on the instance of accused Shoaib Qureshi, the source of recovered weapon i.e. Umardaraj R/o Kesharganj Makbara Diggi Altaf Chowk, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Age 45 years was arrested from his house. The accused Umardaraj disclosed that he used to buy the stolen valuable items from accused Shoaib and his team. He had provided the illegal firearms and live cartridges to accused Shaib Qureshi.

*PROFILE OF ACCUSED ARRESTED:*
1. Accused Shoaib Qureshi R/o Gali Qureshiyan, Khair Nagar, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Age 30 years was born and brought up at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He is not literate well. He came in contact of bad persons of Meerut nearby area & started stealing the valuable items from Cars in Delhi NCR area. He used to come to Delhi in public transport and after doing theft from cars, he fled to Meerut. He used to carry the illegal firearms and cartridges for the purpose of immediate threat to the victims and commit theft from cars. He is previously involved in total 08 cases of theft and arms act.
2. Accused Umardaraj R/o Kesharganj Makbara Diggi Altaf Chowk, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Age 45 years was born and brought up at Meerut Uttar Pradesh. He is not literate well. He used to play gambling in Meerut and also used to buy the stolen valuable items from Shoaib Qureshi and his associates. He is previously involved in total 16 cases of theft, robbery, arms act, Gunda Act and cheating Gang Act etc.

*RECOVERY:*
1. One stolen mobile phone.
2. One illegal country made firearm with two live cartridges recovered from exclusive possession of accused Shoaib Qureshi.

*CASE WORKED OUT:*
1. Case FIR No. 155/25 u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act, PS Delhi Cantt, Delhi.

    Further investigation is under progress.
