In a major crackdown on illegal arms trafficking in the national capital, the ER-I unit of the Crime Branch has apprehended five individuals from Madhya Pradesh.The operation also led to the seizure of two country-made pistols and 14 live cartridges, effectively neutralizing a dangerous syndicate.
THE INCIDENT
Acting on a directive to curb the spread of illegal arms networks, the ER-I team had been actively gathering intelligence. During one such surveillance operation, Head Constable Amit Tomar received a critical tip-off indicating that a group from Madhya Pradesh, suspected of arms trafficking, had checked into a hotel in the Jangpura area of Delhi.
THE OPERATION
A dedicated team comprising SI Prakash, SI Guman Singh, ASI Sandeep Chawla, HC Amit, HC Manish, and HC Anil, led by Inspector Ashish Sharma and supervised by ACP Yashpal Singh (ER-I), was immediately constituted to act on the intelligence.
The team discovered a suspicious room locked from the inside. Demonstrating exceptional coordination and bravery, the team successfully overpowered and arrested all five suspects.A swift search led to the recovery of two country-made pistols and 14 live cartridges.
THE INVESTIGATION
Regarding the incident an FIR (No. 126/25 dated 26/05/2025) was registered under Sections 127(2)(3), 115(2), 3(5), 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act at Crime Branch Police Station, Delhi. The investigation was promptly initiated.
