INTRODUCTION:-

The staff of PS Defence Colony, South District has done commendable work by arresting an extortionist namely Tausif Raja in case FIR No. 100/25 u/s 308(2)/ 319 (2) BNS, PS Defence Colony. Upon his instance, 01 motorcycle used in commission of crime, 01 Mobile phone used in commission of crime and Rs. 28500/- were recovered.
       

BRIEF FACTS OF THE CASE:-
    On 20.05.2025, a lady complainant, aged 76 years, resident of D-Block, Defence Colony, New Delhi, reported at Police Station Defence Colony regarding an incident of extortion amounting to Rs. 1.75 Lakhs by an unknown person.
In her complaint, she stated that on 09.05.2025, an individual claiming to be an official from the Horticulture and MCD Department visited her residence. He alleged that the drains of her property were not clean and threatened that a challan of Rs. 50,000/- would be issued and their electricity meter would be disconnected. He then demanded Rs. 25,000/- as a bribe to settle the matter.
When she refused to pay the bribe, the individual threatened to sabotage the marriage of her son. Out of fear, she handed over Rs. 25,000/- in cash to the accused.
Subsequently, on 13.05.2025, the same individual returned and again threatened to disconnect the electricity meter and disrupt her son’s marriage. This time, he demanded an amount of Rs. 50 Lakhs. Out of fear, her husband complied with his instructions and delivered Rs. 1.5 Lakhs in cash at the Modi Mill flyover, as directed by the accused.
Despite receiving the money, the accused continued to threaten the complainant’s family and insisted on being paid the remaining amount. On the statement of the complainant, a case FIR No.100/2025 U/s 308 (2)/319 (2) BNS was registered at PS Defence Colony and investigation was taken up.

TEAM, INVESTIGATION AND ARREST:-

    Sensing the gravity of the matter, a team of PS Defence Colony comprising SI Praveen, SI Ram Kishan, SI Nirankar, SI Sachin and HC Rajesh, HC Govind led by Insp. Sunjay Sharma, SHO Defence Colony under overall supervision of Shri Rajinder Singh ACP/Defence Colony was formed to act swiftly.

    During the course of investigation, the team analysed more than 100 CCTV Cameras and also analysed the CDRs of Mobile phones. From the analysis of CDR, it revealed that the accused has changed his mobile number. Finally the team with the help of CCTV Footage and technical surveillance tracked and identified the accused person who took the extorted money from the complainant. The photo of the alleged was developed through technical apparatus and circulated with police net to get his identity.  Local sources were deployed and human intelligence was collected.  List of jail bail released criminal were scrutinized.  On the basis of technical analysis and surveillance, a raid was conducted at Okhla and the alleged was arrested. Later on, he was identified as Taushif Raja. He confessed to the above said crime. Upon his instance, 01 motorcycle used in commission of crime, 01 Mobile phone used in commission of crime and Rs. 28500/- were recovered. He was arrested.    

PROFILE OF THE ACCUSED PERSON ARRESTED:-

Tausif Raja S/o Mohd. Muslim Naushad R/o  Abul Fazal Enclave Part- 1, Delhi. Age 42 years.  He is a graduate and worked as a property agent in Shaheen Bagh area.  He was previously found involved in case FIR No.277/2018, u/s 420 IPC, PS IP Estate.    

RECOVERY:-

1.    One motorcycle used in commission of crime.
2.    Two Mobile phones used in commission of crime.
3.    Cash Rs 28500/-

The staff involved in good work is being rewarded suitably.
