DGP Prashant Kumar is retiring on 31 May, but
his name was not included in the farewell ceremony of five other retiring IPS officers, there are speculations of extension of service, although the Chief Minister will take the final decision on this. Police sources say that there is talk that his extension of service is certain, while in the meantime the Yogi government has transferred 5 senior IPS officers. IPS Sanjeev Tyagi has been transferred for the second time in 18 days. Earlier he was removed from the post of Additional Commissioner of Agra and made DIG Prison in Lucknow. Now he has been given the responsibility of DIG Basti.

Shivhari Meena has also been transferred for the second time in 24 days. Earlier he was removed from the post of Additional Police Commissioner Noida and made DIG Technical Services, Lucknow. Now he has been appointed ACP (Law and Order), Varanasi. DIG Anand Suresh Rao Kulkarni of Gorakhpur has been sent to the Police Headquarters. He has been given the responsibility of DIG Technical Services, Lucknow. Apart from this, Varanasi's ACP (Law and Order) Shivasimpi Chanappa has been given the command of DIG Gorakhpur. Basti's DIG Dinesh Kumar P. has been sent to Delhi on central deputation. Within the last one month, 31 IPS officers were transferred in Uttar Pradesh.
