AN INTER-STATE NARCO SYNDICATE INDULGED IN SUPPLY OF LARGE QUANTITY OF GANJA BUSTED BY ANTF, CRIME BRANCH
HIGH-VALUE SEIZURE: 348.176 KG GANJA WORTH APPROXIMATELY 1.75 CRORE, DISGUISED AS TRANSPORTATION OF WATERMELONS IN A TRUCK, RECOVERED
TWO ACCUSED DRUG TRAFFICKERS, WITH SIMILAR PREVIOUS CRIMINAL HISTORY ARRESTED, VEHICLE USED IN COMMISSION OF CRIME SEIZED.
In a bold and decisive action and in a significant breakthrough under its "Zero Tolerance" policy on drug trafficking, and in alignment with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a major Narco-syndicate indulged in supply of Ganja. A massive haul of 348.176 kg Ganja concealed beneath a watermelon laden truck has been seized. Two persons involved in the transportation of the contraband have also been arrested. This extensive operation led to identification of substantial assets tied to the syndicate.
OPERATION HIGHLIGHTS: -
• National-Level Drug Network Busted: A well-organized Narco-syndicate, indulged in supply of Ganja from Andhra Pradesh to various parts of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi & NCR has been taken down. Two principal operatives involved in the supply of Ganja have been arrested.
• Seizure of High-Value Narcotics: Approximately ₹1.75 crore worth of Ganja has been seized, underscoring the network’s scale and reach.
INCIDENT:
On 20.05.2025, on receiving a credible secret information that a truck bearing registration number UP……6591, carrying a large consignment of Ganja, would be passing through Pusta Road, Sonia Vihar, Delhi, the said information was verified and after obtaining the necessary approval and complying with the provisions of the NDPS Act, a raiding team was constituted.
OPERATIONAL STRATEGY AND EXECUTION: -
The current operation was the culmination of months of sustained intelligence gathering led by Insp Vikas Pannu. Initial inputs were received by ASI Yogendra through human intelligence sources, which were subsequently corroborated and enhanced through technical surveillance and analytics by HCs Amit, Mahipal and Rohitash.
The team meticulously tracked the suspected vehicle’s movements from Hyderabad to Delhi, utilizing a combination of toll plaza CCTV data analysis and surveillance of key mobile numbers associated with the accused persons. Each halt, deviation, and timing of the vehicle’s journey was monitored in realtime, providing a precise operational window. Based on this consolidated intelligence, it was established that a major narcotic consignment (Ganja) was en-route to the Delhi/NCR region in a truck disguised as transportation of watermelons.
Thereafter the team comprising ASI Mukesh, HC Anuj, HC Sanjay, HC Sanjeev, HC Gulshan, and Ct. Harish, under the leadership of Insp. Vikas Pannu and under the supervision of ACP Raj Kumar (ANTF), laid a trap at Sonia Vihar Pusta. At about 2:00 AM on 21.05.2025, a truck matching the provided description was intercepted. Upon checking, the truck was found to be loaded with watermelons. On removing the watermelons, 17 plastic bags concealed beneath were recovered. Each bag contained a green leafy substance suspected to be Ganja.
The FSL Crime Team from North-East District was called to the spot and confirmed via field testing kits that the substance was Ganja. The total recovered quantity was 348.176 kg. The contraband was seized and sealed on the spot and a case was registered vide FIR No. 122/25 dt 21.05.2025 u/s 20 (b) ii(C)/25/29 NDPS Act PS Crime Branch
ACCUSED INTERROGATION & PROFILES: -
1. Intezar Malik S/o Shahid, R/o Ashok Vihar, Loni Dehat, Ghaziabad, U.P., Age: 31 years is indulged in supply of Ganja. He used to procure large quantity of Ganja from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, loads it in a truck, hide it beneath any commodity like watermelons and supplies it in the parts of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi & NCR. He is working with same modus operandi since last 4-5 years. He is previously involved in a similar cases of NDPS Act registered vide case FIR No. 1077/2020 U/s 20(b)(ii)(C)/25 NDPS P.S Narsipatnam, Andhra Pradesh wherein 45 Kg of Ganja was recovered. He is also involved in two other cases (theft and 174-A IPC) of P.S Kharkhoda, Sonipat, Haryana.
2. Rizwan S/o Vakil, R/o Indra Puri, Laxmi Garden, Loni Dehat, Ghaziabad, U.P., Age: 32 years is also indulged in supply of Ganja since last 2-3 years. He works as a truck driver alongwith Intezar Malik on commission basis. He is also wanted in a similar cases of NDPS Act.
Both the above mentioned accused persons have been arrested following due compliance of legal provisions and directions of the Hon’ble Apex Court. They were produced before the Hon’ble Court and have been sent to judicial custody.
INVESTIGATION: -
Further efforts are being made to trace the entire supply chain and identify the source and destination of the recovered contraband.
This successful operation highlights the continued commitment of the ANTF and Delhi Police’s Crime Branch in disrupting drug trafficking networks and halting the proliferation of illegal narcotics.
