In a major breakthrough under the “Zero Tolerance” policy against drug trafficking and in alignment with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the Inter State Cell of the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, has successfully dismantled a large interstate narco-syndicate involved in the supply of Cannabis (Ganja).
In a meticulously planned and executed operation, 288 kilograms of Cannabis (Ganja) were recovered. Two accused involved in the transportation and sale of the contraband were arrested. Further investigation into the financial and logistical network of the syndicate is underway.
OPERATION HIGHLIGHTS: -
• National-Level Network Neutralized: A well-organized drug trafficking syndicate operating from Odisha to several states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and the Delhi-NCR region has been busted.
• Major Seizure: A total of 288 kg of Cannabis, valued at approximately ₹50 lakhs, was seized.
INCIDENT DETAILS
The operation was led by the Inter State Cell, Crime Branch,
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi under the close supervision of Inspector Manmeet Malik. Acting on specific intelligence received on 22 June 2025 by SI Sushil, a dedicated team laid a trap near Shamshad Ghat, Sarai Kale Khan, New Delhi, to intercept a truck carrying narcotics.
OPERATIONAL STRATEGY AND EXECUTION: -
Acting swiftly on the information that a truck carrying contraband would be arriving near Shamshad Ghat, Sarai Khale Kha, New Delhi to deliver a large consignment of Cannabis (Ganja), a raiding team was formed under the leadership of SI Sushil. The team included ASI Parveen, HC Monit, HC Ashish, and HC Amit.
Upon reaching the location with the informer, the truck was identified and intercepted. The truck was being operated by two individuals:
1. Mukesh Dahiya R/o Village Bhatt, PS Sonipat, District Sonipat, Haryana (Owner) aged 39 years.
2. Rajesh Dahiya R/o Village Bhatt, PS Sonipat, District Sonipat, Haryana (Driver) aged 29 years.
During the search, conducted in accordance with Section 50 of the NDPS Act, a concealed cavity in the truck’s loading body was discovered. From the cavity, 139 plastic bags containing a total of 288 kg of Cannabis (Ganja) were recovered. Consequently, an FIR under Sections 20 and 25 of the NDPS Act was registered at PS Crime Branch.
INTERROGATION, INVESTIGATION & FURTHER ARREST & RECOVERIES: -
Preliminary investigation revealed that the narcotics were sourced from Odisha and were intended to be delivered to a recipient in Delhi. The arrested accused, Mukesh and Rajesh Dahiya, are currently in custody and are being interrogated for further leads regarding the broader network and suppliers involved in this illegal drug syndicate.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS:-
1. Mukesh Dahiya, Age; 39 Years o Resident of Village Bhatt, PS Sonipat, District Sonipat, Haryana. o Owner of seized truck used for transport of Cannabis (Ganja). o Bought this truck in March 2025, earlier used to work as a truck driver.
o Education: 10th Pass
2. Rajesh Dahiya, Age: 29 Years o Resident of Village Bhatt, PS Sonipat, District Sonipat, Haryana. o Driver of seized truck used for transport of Cannabis (Ganja). o Working as a truck driver from last 8-9 years.
o 7th Pass.
Further investigation is being carried on.
