FAKE ONLINE EDUCATIONAL DEGREE RACKET BUSTED BY CYBER POLICE STATION CENTRAL DISTRICT – TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED, HUNDREDS OF FAKE DEGREES RECOVERED

•    TWO FRAUDSTERS WHO DECIEVED THE COMPLAINANT IN THE LIEU OF REISSUING THE ORIGINAL DEGREE ARRESTED BY TEAM OF PS CYBER, CENTRAL DISTRICT.
•    FAKE B.A. DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY PROVIDED TO VICTIM.
•    VICTIM CHEATED OF ₹1,55,874/- UNDER THE PRETEXT OF REISSUING HIS GRADUATION DEGREE.
•    TWO ACCUSED ARRESTED – ONE DIRECTLY PROVIDED THE FAKE DEGREE, THE OTHER SOURCED IT.
•    SEIZURE OF 04 MOBILE PHONES AND 07 SIM CARDS.

Brief details of the incident:
The complainant, working on contract at an IT firm in Gurugram for the past 6–7 years, was being considered for permanent employment when it was found he had only a marksheet and no graduation degree. Upon failing to retrieve his degree from the university, he discussed the issue with his manager, who referred him to one Kapil Jhakar, claiming he could help reissue the degree. Kapil demanded Rs. 25,000–30,000, but later, on various pretexts, made the complainant transfer multiple amounts, totaling Rs. 1,55,874/-. He eventually sent an unsigned degree from Manav Bharti University, which was rejected by the firm. On 20.03.25, Kapil Jhakar blocked the complainant.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 44/25 u/s 318(4) BNS was registered and investigation was taken up.

Team & Operation:
Considering the seriousness and complexity of the offence, a dedicated team was formed, comprising SI Gaurav Singh, HC Bharat Singh, HC Hira Lal, W/HC Minakshi, and Ct. Dharmender was formed under the leadership of Inspr. Sandeep Panwar, SHO/Cyber Police Station and overall close supervision of Sh. Suresh Khunga, ACP/Operations Central District.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused had changed his mobile phone and shifted base. However, with detailed and in-depth technical surveillance, the accused Kapil Jhakar, Age 34 years, was arrested from Village Bohal in Bhiwani, Haryana and he was thoroughly interrogated about the modus operandi and the source of fake degrees. His mobile phone was seized in the case for forensic analysis.

During investigation the information was extracted from the accused Kapil Jhakar and a subsequent raid was conducted, and the co-accused, a woman, namely Damini Sharma, aged 33, was arrested from the Karkardooma area. Three mobile phones and five SIM cards were recovered from her and seized in the case. Hundreds of fake degrees have been recovered from the mobile phones recovered from the co-accused Damini Sharma.

1.    Kapil Jhakar R/o Village Bohal, Bawani Kheda, Bhiwani, Haryana, Age: 32 years
2.    Damini Sharma R/o Anand Vihar, Delhi, Age: 33 years


Recoveries Made:
1.    04 Mobile Phones containing hundreds of fake degrees from various Universities/Colleges/Boards
2.    07 Sim Cards
Further investigation is in progress.
