Later, the complainant searched for the customer care number of the delivery app online and found a contact number. He contacted the number and requested delivery of the credit card at a new address. The person on the other end asked him to make a payment of Rs.5/- for delivery and sent a malicious .apk file to facilitate the payment. After downloading the file, the complainant tried to make the payment but failed. However, he soon discovered that Rs.50,000/- had been deducted from his account. It was later revealed that the accused had fraudulently posed as customer care and cheated the complainant.
A preliminary inquiry was conducted, and based on the complaint, a case was registered.
