To address the issue of school dropouts, which makes them susceptible to involvement in criminal activities and vulnerable to drug addiction, a campaign is being run to approach their families and convince them to get their children enrolled again in the schools. As a part of that campaign, West district police reached out to the families of 2700 school dropouts. Many of them left schools due to migration or other reason, but there were certain families which has no specific reason for not sending their children to school. A meeting was held with the school principals in the DCP office last week, to understand the common reasons for such dropouts and also to assess the challenge of drugs in schools. As a result of these efforts, more than 300 children/their families have expressed willingness to enroll in the schools again. In furtherance of that, this counselling session was organised in the DCP office complex on June 10, 2025. The counselling sessions were conducted by professors and psychology students from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College.
A follow up strategy for this is being prepared by the Community Policing Cell of West Delhi, headed by SI Manish Madhukar, so that these efforts are converted into results.
