Three IPS officers have been transferred in UP on Thursday. Mutha Ashok Jain has been made Additional Director General of Police of Gorakhpur Zone. He was till now working as Additional Director General of Police in the Recruitment and Promotion Board. In 2013, he has also been the DIG of Gorakhpur.

Dr. K S Pratap Kumar, who was till now ADG in Gorakhpur, has been appointed Director General of Police CMD, Police Housing Corporation.

Jain, a 1995 batch IPS officer, was born on 30 August 1966 in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. His father's name is M.M. Jain. He obtained a bachelor's degree in B.Com (Banking Accounts Statistics) and after that obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDM) in Marketing and Finance from Lucknow-based Indian Institute of Management (IIM). After completing his education, Jain entered the IPS service on 28 December 1995. His first appointment was as SP City in Varanasi, where he made significant contributions in crime control. Subsequently, he held the posts of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Superintendent of Police (SP) in various districts like Allahabad, Kanpur, Etawah, Jaunpur, Farrukhabad and Lalitpur.
